RARE 1800s Antique Dish with Lid
RARE 1800s Antique Dish with Lid
A gorgeous antique vegetable dish with lid from the 1880s - an amazing piece designed by Christopher Dresser for Old Hall Works pottery.
These pieces are extremely rare. The same piece (but in a different pattern) can be seen at Victoria & Albert Museum.
It has a colourful oriental pattern on a creamy white background, gorgeous geometrical shape, ornate lid and handles. Such a unique item!
Both the dish and the lid have heavy crazing, which only adds to the charm of this precious piece of history.
There is a big chip on one of the corners, I added a close up in the photo gallery.
Some of the blue paint on the edges is chipped.
Please see all the photos and the video.
Approx measurements:
Total height: 13 cm (5”);
Width: 32 cm (12 1/4”) handle to handle;
Depth: 15.5 cm (6”).
Marked on the inside of the lid with the numbers 3 / 1323. Pattern is called “Cairo”.
The item may be packaged with repurposed materials, but it will be wrapped well for a safe journey.
